Mission

Our mission is to preserve and protect the natural and built environments, promote a balanced economy in the City of Roswell by the use of best planning and development practices and the responsible enforcement of ordinances and regulations, and provide professional and efficient customer service.

Responsibilities

The Community Development Department is responsible for working with the citizens of Roswell and its development community, Boards and Commissions, and the elected officials while managing current and long-range planning, permitting and inspections, code enforcement and other activities in support of the Department's mission.

After-Hours Reporting

To report critical issues that require the immediate attention of the Community Development Department after hours, please contact the Roswell Police Communications Center at 770-640-4160. This includes, but is not limited to, issues such as the failure of erosion control systems at construction sites, noise complaints, and tree protection.

Comprehensive Growth Plan 2045

The City of Roswell has started the process of updating the Comprehensive Growth Plan. The plan update will focus on developing investment and infrastructure strategies for key economic areas within the city, protecting the existing character of established neighborhoods, identify priority infrastructure investments, as well as to update all Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) required elements including the Character Area map and related narrative, and the Community Work Program.
