Running for Office
To be eligible for office in the City of Roswell, a person must:- Must meet the requirements of a qualified voter of the City of Roswell, as prescribed by state law;
- Must have attained the age of twenty-one (21) years prior to the date of the election;
- Must have been a bona fide resident of the City of Roswell for at least one (1) year prior to the date of the election;
- Continue to reside in Roswell during that member's period of service.
Qualifying Fees
Qualifying fees, as required by state law (O.C.G.A. § 21-2-131), are $540 for Council, $1,200 for Mayor, and $829.50 for Municipal Judge. The qualifying fees are three (3) percent of the total gross salary of the office sought (Roswell City Code Section 6.2.3). Qualifying fees shall accompany Notice of Candidacy and Affidavit form during qualifying week only.Qualifying Week
The next City of Roswell Municipal Election, on November 4, 2025, is for Mayor and City Council Posts 4, 5, and 6.Qualifying Week for the November 4, 2025 City of Roswell Municipal Election will be:
- Monday, August 18 to Friday, August 22, 2025
8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Council Positions
Council positions are designated by post numbers one through six. All candidates qualifying to run shall state the position to which they seek election. City elections are non-partisan, i.e., candidates do not run as members of a particular political party, and their individual party affiliations are not relevant to their positions in Roswell City Government. Please note that all Council posts serve at large, which means they represent the whole City and not just one area of the city.Taking Office
Elected officials take office the first Monday in January after the election. Any person desiring to become a candidate shall file a Notice of Candidacy and Affidavit form with the City Clerk.Reporting Campaign Funding
If you intend to start collecting campaign funds even before qualifying, a Declaration of Intent (DOI) form will need to be submitted online to the State Ethics office at CityOfRoswellGA.EasyVoteCampaignFinance.com. Please note that when you submit the DOI, you will need to declare the post you are seeking.
